Agree 100%!!
If they banned Diesel vehicles and the filthy fuel they burn tomorrow, our city pollution levels would half by next weekend. Try Vir John's test above %26amp; see how long you can breathe for. Diesels may put out slightly less CO2 than petrol engines, because of their greater fuel economy, but they pump out lots of nasty hydrocarbons, nitrates, sulphates and other cr*p.
The problem is exacerbated by the fact that Diesel emissions are heavier than air, so they hang around much longer at ground level, where we breathe them in.
And don't give that cr*p about modern Diesels being greener, even if we forget all the badly maintained buses %26amp; trucks on the roads, a brand new Merc or Audi Diesel still chuffs out plumes of black smoke when it's revved. A modern petrol car with a catalytic converter actually has less harmful emissions coming out of its exhaust than what goes into the engine in the first place. i.e. they purify the air as they go!!
As a parting shot, how many motorcyclists every year are injured falling off their bikes after they've skidded on spilt Diesel on a bend?
People will believe anything if they're saving a few quid!I blame Diesel cars for the increase in the number of Cancer cases in the world. Agree/Disagree?
! I know you are wrong on this point with respect to your answer, But part of your answer I will agree on, 1st the cause of the pollution is the company's the produce the fuel, with the profit they %26amp; the Goverment make, should it not be their priority to produce cleaner fuel? ,, Trebor

considering....burnt food, cling film, teflon, deodorant, talc, artificial colouring/preservative/flavourings in processed foods, the growth hormones injected into animals we eat, pesticides, insecticides, milk, to name just a few things that cause cancer...i think its a little unfair to put all the blame on diesel cars....i'll have to pick disagree.
100,000 sperm, and you were the quickest? Amazing.
are you retarded
I belive that diesel car cause cancer through the increase vibrations to the driver. This p isses off you bodies cell. the clue is in the name ';die'; - ';cell'; or ';diesel';
Diesel is more harmful than petrol!!!! Who the heck said it was the other way around?? Huh.. If you think that I'm mad, try this experiment. Put a diesel-powered vehicle and a petrol-powered vehicle side by side. Be sure that both engines are cold. First the petrol engine. Sit down near the exhaust(1.5meters away or closer). Have someone to start the car and let him/her accelerate. stay there for two minutes. You can tolerate that unlike the diesel engine. You will get nauseous at the smoke of the diesel engine unlike the gasoline engine. Try that experiment if you really don't believe me..
Disagree completley!!!
Do some research
petrol causes more damage i think you were bored when u asked this Q
You're an idiot! What about Lorries and buses that get through 拢100's of diesel each every day! Diesels are LESS polluting than Petrol burners
I disagree. Both petrol and diesel cars pollute the environment.
Then we should live in the stone age.
ok, people say that the soot from diesels is bad, but, you put a modern exhaughst on it, and use ultra low sulfur diesel, and there are fewer emisions then a gas engine. btw, diesels take longer to warm up, making that experimant biased towards gas
Benzine in petrol is known to cause leukaemia they are one as bad as the other---ban them all, even though i have made my living working on them all my life
listen oh clever one if you had researched your question before you asked it you would know that emissions for a diesel car are not tested for m.o.t purposes because there aren't any, petrol driven engines do more damage to the environment because of the fumes they omit.
why dont you wise up and get a life.
I work with big diesel engines and I was told that the emissions were safer than petrol, but now we realize that the soot particles emitted are so small that they can pass through filters and embed them selves in your lungs, which your body cant get rid of, and will increase you risk of lung cancer.
';Soot Plays Bigger Role In Global Warming Than Previously Believed';http://www.futurepundit.com/arc鈥?br>
';In the long term, there is some evidence that repeated exposure to diesel fumes over a period of about 20 years may increase the risk of lung cancer. Exposure to petrol engine exhaust emissions does not have the same risk';.http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg28鈥?br>
just a few bits of info on diesel emissions it is certainly NOT green to burn oil.
I disagree. Diesels just burn less refined oil than petrol. Emissions are carbon but with petrol it is CO2 gas and nitrogen. All have been proved to cause damage to the Ozone layer that causes skin cancer, but the petrol cars are more damaging to the Ozone than Diesels.
Crazy! There are many more reasons for cancer increases than blaming it on diesel! In fact petrol additives are just as bad and as there are more of them probably much more of a contributing factor.
The biggest known cause is pesticides and herbicides sprayed on our food, which are permitted as safe levels, though it's the makers of these that state what the safe level is until it's been used for years and evidence is given that it isn't actually safe.
