Why more and more cases of suicides are committed in the uniformed forces.?

Are uniformed personnel are under constant mental stress. Do you consider the facilities and lower wages is the main reason for this. Why more and more cases of suicides are committed in the uniformed forces.?
It's more about the percieved image of the military today. Gone is the idea of war as a ';glamourous';, ';glorious'; undertaking. After Viet Nam, when TV went to war for the first time, each conflict has been brought into the world's homes in vivid images and sound. People now *know* what it means and only those who are willing to turn a blind eye to that knowledge can continue to believe that war is a majestic pursuit.

Added to that, the increased media awareness of the *motives* behind many attacks and conflicts. In spite of jingoist attempts to manipulate public opinion, facts get out and people are less and less convinced by the government line. WMD turned out to be a fraud. Those of us who remember Viet Nam remember that the soldiers who came back did NOT recieve a hero's welcome; they were seen as failures in a conflict that should never have involved their country in the first place.

Today's soldiers are torn between the desire to defend their country (or whatever their motivation for joining the armed forces may be) and the negative response of media, friends and sometimes relations.

Also, young people today are much less accustomed to obeying without question--which is one of the cornerstones of the armed forces. They recieve quite a shock when they are expected to do as they are told without protest. Some never recover from the shock of the fact that life is NOT a computer game--that death, pain and suffering are real. This happened to my own brother when he realised that, hey--bullets really kill, and at the end of armed conflict you do not press a button and start over. Dead is dead.

Stress? Yes. Quite a lot. Add to that not having sufficient materials and defenses, and depression is a normal response. Why more and more cases of suicides are committed in the uniformed forces.?
Suicides are not peculiar to the armed forces.Students, farmers, artists, lovers, gamblers and poor people unable to meet the demands of the life are also committing suicides. One of the reasons is money. the other is relationship.

As far as armed forces are concerned, the living conditions, the rigorous routines, lack of social activities, homesickness and absolute slavery faced by the lower ranks are driving the men to suicides. The outlook for the future is bleak. Death is facing you every day.The pittance as salary is shameful. We can treat them more humanely. They are not animals ready for the butcher.

Guarantee of a stable future, handsome pension, more leave facilities every three months, liberal allowances, better living conditions may go a long way to reduce suicides in the army.
its every thing stress money what they see at war and how hard they have to work.
